I am a husband, father, and Director of Secondary Education for the St. Joseph School District. I have been honored to serve as an educator in Missouri for over twenty years. I began my teaching career at the elementary level in Sedalia and later taught language arts and social studies at the middle school level in Columbia. While in Columbia, I served two years as a Teaching Fellows Mentor and Clinical Associate for the University of Missouri in the Teaching Fellowship Program. During that time I supported four teaching fellows, supervised student teachers, and taught two courses for undergraduate and graduate students. I transitioned into administration after eleven years in the classroom setting, serving as an assistant principal and principal in Excelsior Springs for nine years.

Regardless of the assignment, I value collaboration, inquiry, and problem solving in the service of students, staff and colleagues. Reflective practice and the commitment to continuous learning have been integral parts of my development and practice as an educator. I look forward to connecting with other educators, sharing and learning from their expertise.

My ideal vision of leadership
Guiding principles of a learning community
