One of the best summer learning opportunities for Missouri educators is coming up next week, the 2016 Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Summer Training Institute. I’m excited to learn from the strong slate of national speakers and exemplary educators from Missouri who are scheduled to appear.
Educators from across mid-Missouri met last week at The Hook Center for Educational Renewal in Columbia, Missouri to explore elementary and secondary school practices related to PBIS. Some of the practices from Excelsior Springs Middle School were shared on Thursday morning with participants. Teachers, counselors, principals, and central office administrators participated in the secondary networking meeting from the following communities: Columbia, Excelsior Springs, Fayette, Fulton, Mexico, Moberly, Prairie Home and Warrenton.
Teachers from Gallatin, Missouri visited our school on Monday to learn more about PBIS on the middle level. We were thrilled to host their learning team and share our lessons learned from our Tier 1 implementation. Perhaps the greatest lesson we learned from our implementation was to involve students from the very start.
